Tessellated Pavement wrap

A tessellation or tiling is the covering of a surface, often a plane, using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. This wrap is an interpretation of a simple tiling pattern in two colour brioche and garter stitch.

The pattern is named after a geological formation in Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania.

**Materials:**
• Fingering weight yarn in two colours, 720m/787yds of each.
• 3.75mm/US 5 circular needle with an 80cm/32” or longer cable.
• 5mm/US 8 circular needle with an 80cm/32” or longer cable.
• Cable needle or locking stitch marker.
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

**Size of finished wrap:**
Length 206cm/82.5", width 50cm/20", relaxed after blocking.

**Gauge:**
Obtaining gauge is not essential, as long as you are happy with the fabric you are getting. Different gauge will affect the size of the finished object and the amount of yarn used.

The sample shawl had a gauge of 18 stitches and 20 rows in a 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) square, after blocking.

The pattern has both written instructions and charts. Detailed descriptions are included and video tutorials are available for the more unusual stitches used.
