Ghost (Saseo Ono)

A short, supernatural tale set in Taisho era Japan, first published in Japan in 1953 and now translated into English.

As a young boy, the author moves with his family into a new house in Tokyo's Akasaka district, surrounded by spacious gardens and dominated by a large well set into the wall of the kitchen. For the low price paid the property seems too good to be true, but are the new occupants as alone as they think in their outwardly refined new home...?
