BMW R80 Steering Head Bearing Install Tools - STL File for 3D Printing
These are the STL files for all the parts I developed to install new steering head bearings on the BMW R80.
For the inner race, you get three files. The bottom part has a raised edge, so you don't damage the cage but rather press on the solid part of the bearing. The top part has a hole for the M10 threaded rod that is used to press the bearing into place. In between the top and bottom part go eight spacers, so that you can properly install the inner race.
For the outer race, I developed a plug like part that fits precisely into the outer race. If you print two of these plugs you can press the outer races into to frame using the same M10 threaded rod.
For easier installation it makes sense to put the outer races into the freezer for a few hours and check and clean the race seats in the frame. Here is the video I made about the installation process: https://youtu.be/yoaWEOLPUdo
What you need to print
For the inner race:
1x Top Part
8x Spacer
1x Bottom Part
For the outer race:
2x Install Tool
What else you need:
M10 threaded rod (~300mm long)
6x M10 washers
2x M10 nuts
