- Notes from the Artist: Selecting the perfect flower is such a joyous process for me. Whether I am in the garden or at the farmer's market, I get to enjoy a sea of beautiful flowers. But the magic happens when I look at each bloom individually and single out the ones that have the most interesting characteristics. Each one has a unique personality, and my macro lens allows me to explore the nuances of shapes, patterns, colors, and textures as I create a portrait to capture the flower as it exists in this one moment. I loved the soft texture and delicate coloring in this peony. Peonies are at their prime for such a brief time, but they are simply glorious when they vulnerably open themselves up to show the world their inner beauty.
