DESCRIPTION

Forgotten Memories is a pair of toe-up socks that's ideal for showcasing two colors of fingering-weight handdyed yarn. A delicate lace vine travels on the outside of the foot and leg. Otherwise the socks are worked in stockinette, letting the yarn do the talking.

Toes, cuffs, and peasant heels are worked in a contrasting color. Twisted-rib cuffs end in a picot edging folded to the inside.

The socks come in five sizes with adjustable foot and leg length. Right and left socks are mirror images of each other and can be worked two-at-a-time. Contrast-colored peasant heels with short-row mini gussets are worked last.

The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Both written and charted instructions are given for the lace pattern.

This pattern uses the following techniques: working small circumferences in the round, lace, twisted stitches, German short rows, and whip stitch. Ability to follow charts is recommended but written instructions are also provided for the lace pattern.

The pattern assumes knowledge of a cast-on and bind-off method for toe-up socks; references are given for a few alternatives.
