The Dead Are Everywhere. A walk for when something has ended and the world carries on as if nothing had
The Dead Are Everywhere takes you on an ordinary walk, your street, the local shops, the route to the station, and asks you to look for the dead. You come home having spent a little while in a world in which the dead have not disappeared. They are underfoot, overhead, built into things, feeding roots, holding up roofs, making places and leaving gaps.
What this is: a self-guided noticing walk as a downloadable PDF, from The Art of Unravelling. Two pages, twenty to forty minutes, somewhere ordinary and familiar. It carries its own way out: if the walk becomes heavier than you expected, you stop, turn for home, and let it become an ordinary walk again.
It is for you if: something has ended for you and the way the world carries on feels strange, or you would simply like to walk through your own neighbourhood with endings in view rather than out of it.
