Contemplations
Composed between 2021 and 2024, Contemplations is a collection of three pieces which explore the idea of solitude, whether feeling isolated and yearning for a meaningful connection, or tuning into yourself and finding peace and enjoyment in your own company.
The human voice represents our truest feelings, those which are often suppressed by the noise of daily life. Using the pianist’s voice draws attention to this important part of ourselves and serves as a reminder of the delicacy of the human experience.
First performed by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler at St Elisabeth Kirche, Berlin, Germany, 18th May 2025, as part of the 24 hour piano marathon. The audio selections are taken from this performance.
