Lilienstil Hat is a lightweight, slouchy beanie featuring a floral motif, accompanied by a folded ribbed band and pom pom. Named for the German term referring to “lily style” Art Nouveau, this hat carries a springlike spirit into the cooler months of the year. This pattern is recommended for intermediate level knitters who are comfortable with stranded colorwork, reading from charts, and knitting in the round. The hat pictured above was knit with Tosh Merino Light in colorways Alizarin and Antique Lace.
Materials
• Approximately 200 yards of Main Color (dark) in fingering/sock weight yarn
• Approximately 120 yards of Contrast Color (light) in fingering/sock weight yarn
• Approximately 30 additional yards of Contrast Color and materials required to make pom pom
• One 16” circular needle, 2.75mm (US size 2)
• One 16” circular needle, 3.25mm (US size 3) - or size required to get gauge
• 3.25mm (US size 3) DPNs or a longer circular needle for Magic Loop method
• Stitch marker
• Darning needle for weaving ends in
• Blocking materials
Specifications
Gauge: 28 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches (10.15cm) in stranded pattern (blocked)
Finished measurements: 20” (50.8cm) in circumference around the fullest part of the hat, approximately 11.75” (29.85cm) from cast-on edge to crown (blocked)
