Augerellus Serif Text Regular

Augerellus is a Renaissance serif typeface created as part of a type design exercise for the Expert Class Type Design 2024–2025 at the Plantin Institute, Antwerp.

Named after Antoine Augereau (Latinized Augerellus), the influential Parisian printer and teacher of Claude Garamont, the typeface pays tribute to the humanist roots of early French typography. Augerellus draws inspiration from the clarity, balance, and warmth of Renaissance letterforms, while remaining carefully adapted for contemporary use.

With its refined proportions, moderate contrast, and thoughtful detailing, Augerellus is designed for comfortable reading and elegant text composition. It is well suited for editorial design, academic publications, and projects that value typographic history combined with modern craftsmanship.
