Spelling Skill Practice is a complete targeted encoding intervention for students entering grades 4–9. It includes 12 focused spelling areas, a complete Teacher/Parent Guide, and a separate Student Workbook.

This program is designed for students who can decode a spelling pattern but cannot yet encode it reliably. Instead of multiple-choice or recognition-based activities, students hear words and write them.

The complete collection may be used in two ways:

• TARGETED: Use the encoding-and-decoding screening to identify specific spelling gaps, then assign only the packets the student needs.

PRACTICE IDEAS FOR BOTH ADULTS AND STUDENTS

The Teacher/Parent Guide includes two pages of additional practice ideas with clear directions for using activities such as tap and spell, word building, word chains, sentence dictation, rainbow writing, word sorts, and whiteboard drills.

The Student Workbook includes its own student-facing versions of these practice pages. The directions are written directly to the student so they can choose activities to complete with a parent, teacher, or partner or practice independently between lessons.

These flexible practice options may be used for homework, extra reinforcement, early-finisher work, tutoring, or the days between formal lessons.

SHORT, CONSISTENT LESSONS

Most lessons take approximately seven minutes:

WARM: Read several pattern words aloud.

BUILD: Spell dictated words from sound.

CLOSE: Write a dictated sentence or explain the spelling rule.

The short format makes it easy to pair spelling intervention with vocabulary, grammar, reading, or writing instruction during the same ELA session.
