Driftwood Waves Cowl
ConstructionThe Driftwood Waves Cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up, beginning and ending with a rolled edge that compliments the lacy cresting waves. Instructions are given for 3 sizes in order to make a cowl that is tall and snuggly, double wrapped, or extra-long. Both length and width are easily adjusted, as noted in the instructions, and may require more yardage. Instructions are written, and a chart is included for the Cresting Waves Lace. Sizes: 19 x 11(44 x 10, 56 x 9)”;
48 x 28 (112 x 25,140 x 23) cm; sample shown is 19x11”(48 x 28) cm.
Yardage: 245 - 299 (530 - 648, 587 - 717) yds;
224 - 274 (485 - 592, 537 - 656) m.
Needles: US #3 (3.25 mm) circular needle; length 16 (32, 47)”, 41( 81,119) cm is recommend depending on final length desired or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 25 sts x 44 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in lace pattern in the round and blocked. A different gauge will affect drape, yardage required, and size. Swatch in the round for an accurate gauge.
Yarn Substitution: Any fingering weight yarn can be used, but please check your gauge. This cowl will look great in yarns that are lightly speckled, have long gradients, and are light to medium in color. Please note that dark colors, stripes, and variegated yarns tend to obscure lace patterns.
Notions: unique BOR stitch marker, stitch markers for horizontal repeats 9 (22, 28), tapestry needle.
Skills Needed: knitting in the round, p2tog, PDR & PDL decreases (instructions provided).
