Brex never quite fit in with the other orcs in his clan. But being the grandson of the chief offered him a certain comfort, allowing him to quietly study sorcery from secondhand books and trinkets, avoiding the dangerous trials his fellow orcs have faced.
Upon his grandfather's death, a new chief takes command and gives Brex three days to prepare for his rites of adulthood. On the morning of the third day, he must go into the wilds and bring back the skin of a lion, or face exile from the clan.
The hunters of the clan offer no advice for him, save for one tip: Avoid the bloodmane, a fierce and unstoppable lion with a mane as bright as flame, at all costs.
