It's kinda like a Proteus for Reason. For anyone old enough to remember EMU Systems's once ubiquitous hardware sample player, only much, much bigger and better.

  • All the updates free. SongLab is an impressive sound library as it stand and well worth the entry price. In fact, many of the individual categories here have sold in healthy numbers for the asking price of the entire SongLab collection. But that's not all. You also get all the available updates (usually published monthly) completely free! I'll send the links to your inbox and you can download the new collections completely free of charge, for as long as I'm developing them.

  • Save your own creations. All the sounds are fully editable using NN-XT's powerful synth parameters and the effects processors used within the Combinator patches. So the sounds here are really just the beginning. You can edit or just 'tweak' any of the sounds and save them for use anytime. All the edits you carry out are also saved within your project/file data.

  • Ready to play patches. All the sounds here are ready to play Combinator patches. They're not simply raw samples. So there's no addition sample mapping or editing required.

  • Seamless Loops. The samples that form the basis for the sounds are all painstakingly, expertly, and seamlessly looped so you get realistic, playable, and musical results.

  • Demo Tracks and Videos. Most of the categories and libraries have demo videos and tracks so you get an idea of the quality before you purchase. Check out the library information below....

The SongLab Reason Library.

Here are the current SongLab Reason categories with demo tracks/videos.

Piano Mechanics: Prelude. Grand Piano Sounds For Reason NN-XT/Combinator

All songwriters need a great piano and here you've got one of the best. Meticulously multi-sampled in detail with four velocity layers, Prelude is great for all types of songs including emotional ballads, electronic pop, and house and dance tracks.

It's a big step on from Reason's standard supplied pianos for NN-XT and ID-8 instruments, and it makes the most of Reason's powerful processing and effects including the R7000 reverb, M-CLass EQ, and W-Class Stereo Imager.

Check out the three demo 'vignettes' below.

Fender Agenda. Fender Rhodes Stage 88 MK2. Fender Rhodes For Reason.

Authentic and very playable Fender Rhodes library. Ranging from soft bell type tones for smoother tracks, harder type sounds 'rockier' pieces, and patches featuring delay for recreating that 60s psychedelia sort of vibe.

Here's a quick demo track........

Keyboard Legacy Collection One. Vintage Keyboards for Reason.

The Keyboard Legacy One collection features five essential vintage keyboard collections for Reason. This library category features 40 Combinator patches compatible with Reason Studio, Reason Intro and Reason Essentials.

STM D6 Clavinet is great for any songs/tracks requiring the funky pluck of Hohner's classic keyboard instrument, original intended for the living room but quickly adapted for the stage by legends such as Stevie Wonder, Rick Wakeman, and Keith Emerson. The Soft Clavinet is a much warmer kind of sound with a much less pronounced attack.

Classic FM E-Piano is a gorgeous, warm, digital 'electric' piano brought to you originally by Yamaha's DX7 and following family of FM synthesizers, and featuring on almost every pop song from the eighties!

The Classic FM E-Piano's 16 combinator patches makes full creative use of Reason's Chorus/Flanger effects processor as well as the M-Class EQ and R7000 reverb.

Classic Tonewheel is a thick, gutsy Hammond organ recreation. Particularly effective if you can find a free or inexpensive Leslie speaker processor/effect. Reason doesn't have one as standard.

Finally a cutting synth lead sound reminiscent of ARP's famous Odyssey monophonic synth. Kind of thinner and edgier that it's Moog counterpart, Odilog is great for electronic, dance, and rock genres.

Smokin' Hammond For Reason/Combinator

In addition to the Classic Tonewheel sounds from the 'Keyboard Legacy 1' collection, this 'Hammond' organ library fetures something a bit rockier and a bit heavier. Great for blues and rock songs, tracks and demos.

Here's a little demo video with some talking and some playing......

Here's a little demo video.....

Synth Bass. FM Synth Bass For Reason.

SongLab Reason includes a number of synthesizer collections, the first of which is a recreation of the classic 'Lately Bass' from Yamaha's TX81Z FM synthesizer module. This sound has featured on dance, hip-hop, pop, and EDM tracks since the mid/late 80s when the TX81Z first appeared, and here it is with a number of Combinator patches that utilize Reason's powerful effects processors. Use the NN-XT's synth editing parameters to tweak, design and save your own variations and patches.

Synth Bass. Minimoog Synth Bass For Reason NN-XT/Combinator

If you're looking for analog synth bass sounds for Reason, then this collection of Minimoog basses should keep you happy. Deep, warm analog bass sounds for all song genres including pop, EDM, RnB, rap/hip-hop and rock. Once again, NN-XT's powerful synth parameters means you can create and save almost infinite variations from the initial Combinator patches.

Burnin' Moog. Analog Synth Lead For Reason

At the other end of the frequency spectrum, this collection of analog solo/lead Combinator patches is great for prog rock tracks among many other genres. 8 Combinator patches are available using Reason's standard effects suite and NN-XT synth parameter editing means there are endless tweaks and variations.

Drum Mechanics. Acoustic Drums For Reason/Combinator.

One of the best acoustic drum libraries available for Reason NN-XT/Combinator. Now available within SongLab Reason.

Drum Mechanics is a detailed, and realistic drum library for Reason, now with Combinator patches, and really worth the price of SongLab Reason on its own.

Lots of samples with different articulations, means that Drum Mechanics delivers the realistic and playable drums essential for songwriters and artists working in all genres.

Check out the demo below, and listen for the 'articulations' that make all the difference.....rolls, flams, side hits, etc.

Drum Mechanics currently has 600+ samples available across 8 kits and now with the Combinator patches you also get control over reverb and EQ, etc.

The multiple outs of the NN-XT also means you can mix and process each drum individually just like a real studio.

More information on Drum Mechanics is available from the dedicated blog page:

E-Drum Mechanics. Electronic Drums For Reason/Combinator

Of course, no comprehensive sound library for songwriters and music producers would be complete without a complete collection of electronic/drum machine samples and kits.

E-Drum Mechanics features classic drum machine samples and kits including Roland's iconic TR808 and TR909.

But E-Drum Mechanics takes things a stage further by offering resampled sounds that are squeezed, crushed and shaped to deliver even bigger, fatter and more impactful than even the originals.

Whilst all the other patch groups utilize Reason's NN-XT within the Combinator patches, E-Drum Mechanics employs Reason's classic ReDrum drum machine instrument so you can develop your own patterns, edit the sounds using ReDrum's editing parameters and also save your own kits.
