This is a pattern for a super bulky weight beanie knit in the round and using the stranded colourwork technique.

100% Alpaca yarn is not elastic. You may find the smaller needle works better for the rib to achieve a tighter fitting beanie, if you are working with 100% Alpaca yarn.

yarn:

Rock Hollow Farm Handspun

100% Alpaca wool from Tux 70yds AND 100% Coopersworth wool 37yds

approximate yarn amounts:

colour A (Tux) - 70yds / 64m

colour B (natural light) - 37yds / 34m

needles:

5.0 - 6.5mm (us no 8 - 10.5) circular needles 32in/80cm for cast on and rib

8.0mm (us no 11) circular needles 32in/80cm

gauge:

10 sts and 10 rows = 4 in/10 cm over stranded stockinette patterning on 8.0mm needles

Change needles, as needed, to keep gauge the same throughout.

one size fits many; 21-25 in/53cm-63.5 cm head
