Keep your stitches sweet with this adorable knitted Candy Cane! This pattern uses very little yarn so is great for using up scraps. Once finished it looks lovely hanging on the tree or around your home. The instructions for this pattern are supported by a photo tutorial.

Skills / Techniques Used: Knitting an i-cord

Measurements: The finished size of your Candy Cane will be 6.25” / 17cm high (unbent) and 0.5” / 1cm in width.

Materials

For each Candy Cane you will need:
  • Yarn A - 2g / 0.07oz, 3yd / 2.7m of chunky yarn for stripe 1. The yarn used in the pattern picture is Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky, 100% Acrylic, 100g / 3.5oz, 149yd / 136m per ball, in Rose Red
  • Yarn B - 2g / 0.07oz, 3yd / 2.7m of chunky yarn in a contrast colour for stripe 2. The yarn used in the pattern picture is Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky, 100% Acrylic, 100g / 3.5oz, 149yd / 136m per ball, in Paper White
  • 2 x US size 6 / 4mm double pointed needles
  • 1 x 6” / 15cm long pipe cleaner at 0.25” / 0.6cm thickness, or use a few thinner ones twisted together
  • A tapestry needle
Gauge is not vital to the Candy Cane but as a guideline the yarn should knit to 20 stitches and 28 rows to 4” / 10cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.
