12 Days of Baubles features 12 quick and fun bauble cozies perfect for gifting or decorating your own tree. A variety of techniques ensures that you can use this pattern on all the yarns in your advent set, whether they be speckled, solid, variegated or striped.
Day 1 is a simple stockinette cozy which is designed to be your swatch project. For best results, it should be worked first. If you find that the row or stitch gauge is off, or you do not like the fabric that is produced, adjust your needle size to knit the remaining bauble covers.
Day 2 uses a simple slip-stitch pattern to elevate your cozy and break up any annoying pooling in variegated yarns.
Day 3 is all about the cables – four wide ones!
Day 4 features a lovely lace mesh on a field of reverse stockinette. Don’t worry about purling, though; the piece is worked inside out until the last 3 rounds!
Day 5 is a simple twisted rib ornament cover which can be used as a swatch project if Day 1 was not knit.
Day 6 is a fab textured bauble cozy using slipped stitches on a garter background.
Day 7 incorporates a delicate leaf lace pattern around its midsection.
Day 8 sports a neat spiral rib that does not require a cable needle!
Day 9 is a reverse stockinette bauble cover - don’t worry about the purling- it’s knit inside out!
Day 10 combines ribbing and a band of eyelet lace.
Day 11 has the sweetest fir tree lace pattern around its midsection. It’s my favorite of the whole collection.
Day 12 features an eye-catching alternating cable pattern.
These bauble covers are designed to fit a 2 to 2.63” / 51 to 67 mm plastic ornament. I found the ornaments at my local A.C. Moore store.
For a few rounds, you will be creating your stitches with the plastic bauble nestled inside the knitted fabric. For your safety, please do not use a glass ornament to create this project!
