La Manche

La Manche

A collaboration with Sweet Paprika Designs for their once-a-year Norwood DK. The open front cardigan is worked top-down and seamlessly in a sleek construction. Long or short? The neckband ribbing is worked in tandem with the basketweave body to your desired cardigan length. Lovingly named after La Manche, Newfoundland & Labrador; if you ever visit La Manche, don’t forget to bring your cardi as you traverse the La Manche suspension bridge.

Needles and Notions

The gauges were achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles or straights of various lengths for stockinette sleeves and basketweave body; you may find it more comfortable to work with two 100cm / 40” circular needles for the back wingspan.

Size B: 4mm (US 6) 80cm / 32” or 100cm / 40” circular needle for stranded bands.

You will also need:

spare needles or interchangeable cables for holding sts, 3.5mm (US E-4) crochet hook for surface crochets along

top of shoulder/sleeve, a needle two sizes smaller than your size A needle for Jeny’s Stretchy Bind Off, stitch markers.
