Whale shark foundation paper piecing pattern

The whale shark, the largest fish on Earth, is a lovely creature. Sadly, this gentle giant is under threat from illegal fishing and ocean pollution. So I'm donating 10% of the profits from sales of this pattern to the conservation charity The Ocean Giants Trust (www.oceangiantstrust.org/).

This pattern contains quite a few small segments so it is great for intermediate or advanced paper-piecers. To make your finished piece look a lot like a whale shark you could copy my fabric choices (white dots on grey) or else you could experiment with other patterns and colours!

The pattern will produce a block that is approximately 10x16 inches. This could be made into a mini quilt, incorporated into a large quilt or perhaps made into a wall hanging. The PDF also includes instructions to scale-up the pattern to make a quilt of any size.

This PDF download includes:

❤ Printable pieces
❤ Tips for sewing the pieces and directions to piece the sections
❤ A diagram for planning your colour scheme
❤ Instructions to scale-up the pattern to create a larger quilt
❤ no Y-seams

The pattern does not include instructions on how to paper piece. There are loads of great quilting resources online where you can learn to paper piece.

If you have any questions about the pattern please feel free to contact me.
