There’s nothing cozier than humble garter stitch, and adding a pretty lace detail and a decorative top edging adds a bit of interest to the knitting and the finished cowl. Knit in the round from the top down, Snow Bird works up fast in bulky yarn.

Body of cowl is written and charted.

Yarn weight - Bulky
Gauge - 13 stitches = 4 inches in lightly blocked garter (worked in the round)
Needle size - US 10½ - 6.5 mm
Yardage - 250 yards (229 m)
Measurements - Approximately 23” around at top; 32” around at bottom: 11” tall after blocking

Note: Even though the given yardage is 250, one skein of K2 will probably be enough (I actually used 228 yards). If you do run a bit short, you can just shorten the bottom ribbing.
