The Shattering of Certainty: Where the Known Gives Way (Unabridged Audiobook) · English
What happens to faith, doubt and wonder when an ancient text, a disputed translation and a cosmology from the other side of the world all arrive in the same small window, in answer to a few typed words?
The Shattering of Certainty is for everyone who feels that the old certainties have cracked and would rather stay open than build a new fortress. This is not a book about religion, and it is open to everyone: the believer, the doubter, and the seeker between traditions. It asks how to love what you love without becoming afraid of everything else that exists.
"I loved Yeshua, and still do, but I could not understand why loving him should require me to become frightened of so much that exists." — from the opening essay
What you will find inside
A new opening essay and five essays by Ben Hassine, each closing with questions for reflection:
- The Shattering of Certainty: what happens when the world becomes an enemy, and how to stay open to a world far larger than our explanations. Along the way it listens to Revelation and its Jewish roots, the Zohar and Hasidic teaching, and C. S. Lewis on other worlds.
- What Self-Attention Actually Is: Ramana's question "Who am I?", where self-attention means looking for the one who claims to be yourself.
- Nonduality as Communion, Not Abstraction: a nonduality deep enough to make love more real.
- The Guru Who Sings the One: the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, where the One is sung as Beloved, Name and Light in all.
- The Cosmic Christ Is Not a Bigger Cage: a Christ too large to be made provincial.
- What the Machine Is Unveiling: apocalypse as unveiling, and what our newest tools reveal about the old demand to become enough before we may rest.
Each tradition keeps its own voice. The audiobook closes with notes and sources for every essay.

About the author
Ben Hassine is a writer and video creator, and at heart a mystic. He is the founder of Afterglow Publishing House, an independent publishing house, and of its division ClarityOne, through which he reaches readers and listeners around the world with books and videos on YouTube.
Radical grace is his life's work: setting Yeshua free from the religious cage, so that grace is open to everyone. His essays, books and videos keep returning to it. He reads closely in the source texts of the Christian and Jewish traditions, and also in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Advaita. His path is interfaith, yet never syncretic or New Age: each tradition keeps its own voice.
He is also the author of Resting in Grace (also available as an audiobook), the prologue to Resting in Reality, the larger work still to come.
