For Symphonic Band

Program Note:
Franciscus – Tango y Esperanza is inspired by Pope Francis, portraying his human and spiritual journey from his Argentine roots to transcendence.
Blending influences from Gardel, Piazzolla, Mozart, and Bach, the work transforms his musical tastes into a symphonic language.
Structured in three continuous sections — En la Calle de Buenos Aires, Milonga de la Revelación, and Procesión de la Esperanza — the piece moves from youthful energy to inner reflection and spiritual hope.
Through lyrical dialogues between flute and soprano saxophone, it celebrates faith, humanity, and the dance of life.
Commissioned by the INATEL Foundation and the Portuguese Army Symphonic Band.
