Originally founded in 1881, the ensemble experienced a period of silence before being revived after the Portuguese Revolution of April 1974 — a time of renewed cultural vitality.
The piece unfolds as a symbolic journey from darkness to light: an opening of introspection, an energetic fanfare of awakening, and a jubilant allegro representing the youthful spirit that ensures the band’s enduring legacy.
