Composed in 1994 and revised in 2011, the Duo for Flute and Piano is a single movement work with a duration of 10 minutes.
Like the Fantasias of the Elizabethan Virginalist composers of the 17th century, my work is also improvisational in nature. The piece freely develops and unfolds melodically and rhythmically with a variety of different sections and tempos. The work is dedicate to the memory of a very close friend Ruth Johnson and is fantasy inspired by the notes of her name spelled out in music.
