Caterpillar Girl by Riin Gill for Happy Fuzzy Yarn

Caterpillar Girl
by Riin Gill for Happy Fuzzy Yarn

As soon as we got Merino Mono at Happy Fuzzy Yarn, I knew I had to design something with it! I loved the way it took the dye, and I decided the soft singles would make a good scarf or shawl. I have a fondness for triangles (doesn’t everyone have a favorite polygon?), and I thought ruching would give visual interest as well as extra warmth (I came up with the idea during a really cold Michigan winter!).

As I was knitting it, the ruched sections began to look more and more like caterpillars to me, which of course triggered Robert Smith singing … cata cata cata cata cata cata caterpillar girl in my head. (I’ve been a Cure fan for over 30 years, so these things happen.)
