Pieter Bruegel the Elder (Pieter Bruegel de Oude; born 1526 — died September 9, 1569) was a Dutch painter of the XVII century, an outstanding master of the household genre, the ancestor of the famous dynasty of Dutch painters. Pieter Brueghel the Elder is also famous for religious paintings, landscapes and magnificent engravings.
