The author of the famous "Scream" Edvard Munch was a nervous man: he was afraid of nature, all his life he and his loved ones were haunted by death and disease, and relationships with women led the artist to depression. And, of course, all this could not but be reflected in his paintings.

Munch perceived nature as something dramatic and dangerous: natural phenomena caused him the strongest experiences. In the famous painting "The Scream" (at the Berlin solo exhibition of 1893, the picture was called "The Cry of Nature"), the monstrous creature personifies the screaming sunset. The blood-red sunset caused the artist horror and despair.
