UK Edition: Calm Space Kit for School and Home: Setup Guide, SEND, KS4 and Post-16
Everything I use to set up a calm space in a classroom, and the same ideas work at home. A calm space only helps if pupils are taught how to use it, so the kit covers that too.
What's included
• Setup guide: where to put it, what seat to use, what to call it
• Calm tools checklist, so it stays a few tools and not a toy shop
• Calm space rules and a "How to use this spot" poster
• Week one teaching plan
• Check out sheets for younger and older pupils
• Adult use log
How I use it
I set the space up where I can see it from anywhere I teach, away from the door. In week one I teach it like any other routine, with practice while everyone is calm. Pupils set a timer, pick one tool, check how big the feeling is, then rejoin. The log tells me who uses it, when, and for how long.
Good for KS1 to KS4 pupils with SEND, SEMH or ASC.
Format: PDF, 4 A4 pages.
