Where in the World Illusion - PDF knitting pattern

An illusion knitting map to be used as a wall-hanging, viewed from the side, or as part of an afghan or throw.

The map is not much use for planning your holiday but it is fun to have hanging on the wall. When you look straight at the knitting you see only stripes. When you move to the side the map magically appears.

The map is as small as it can be to make larger countries recognisable. If you live in a small country you may not be able to find it on the map.

You can make it in any type of yarn. The map shown was knitted tightly in 4 ply and is 114 cm (45") wide and 68 cm (27") high, before being stretched over a board. If you use thicker yarns it will be bigger. It used 630 metres (700 yards) 4 ply, in each of two colours, with extra needed for the border.

Illusion knitting is very easy because you use only two colours and never change colour in the middle of a row. If you can knit and purl you can make this.

The pattern has various versions of the chart, including one intended for tablet users, to make it as easy as possible for you to make this without ever losing your place.
