How to get to Kyoto:

While Kyoto is a 2hr bullet train ride from Tokyo, we still recommend visiting this place if you haven't. Besides, you've traveled far from where you came from, why not explore the old capital city of Japan, right?

If you're coming from Tokyo, we recommend taking the bullet train from either Tokyo Station or Shinagawa Station (whichever you're closest). The nearest international airport from Kyoto is the Kansai International Airport. Take the JR Haruka Express for a direct and fast access to Kyoto.

The itinerary will have a starting point from Kyoto Station and a detailed transportation guide is included. If you are staying outside of Kyoto, this will still help you plan and navigate as majority of the destinations have a direct access from Kyoto Station. So, technically, you will still start at Kyoto Station.
