Combining two colours and a simple geometric colourwork pattern creates a fetching unisex beanie. The sample is worked in a warm woolly yarn- a blend of Portland and Black Welsh Mountain breeds sourced from a single farm.

Yarn: MC- 50 (60, 70) g DK weight yarn, approximately 220 m per 100 g.
CC- 20 (25, 25) g DK weight yarn, approximately 220 m per 100 g.
Sample shown in Armscote Manor Portland wool with a dash of Black Welsh Mountain; 100% wool; 220 m / 241 yds per 100 g; MC- natural, CC- hand dyed in “Juno” by A Little Bit Sheepish.

Needles: 3.0 mm / US 2.5 double pointed needles or 60 cm / 24” circular needle for working in the round on a medium circumference.
4.0 mm / US 6 double pointed needles or 60 cm / 24” circular needle for working in the round on a medium circumference.

Notions: 8 stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Skills: Cast on, working in the round, knit, purl, colourwork, decreases, weaving in ends.

Gauge: 20 stitches and 24 rows over 10 cm / 4” in colourwork pattern on larger needles after blocking. Adjust your needle size if needed to achieve the correct gauge.

Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for small (medium, large) adult size; approximately equivalent to 48 (52, 56) cm / 19 (20½, 22)” knitted circumference. Choose a size approximately 3 cm / 1 ¼” smaller than your head measurement for a snug fit. Resizing instructions given.
