BAE Caiman
INFORMATION
The Caiman is a vehicle with mine and ambush defense. Armor Holdings, which BAE Systems later bought, had originally designed it. There are Category 1 (4x4) and Category 2 layouts for the Caiman (6x6). Each of these vehicle types received sizable orders from the US Marine Corps. The Caiman is made for a variety of jobs, including ambulance, troop transport, and convoy. Its V-shaped capsule-style hull ends just before the engine room. Protection from direct fire, RPG rounds, IEDs, and landmines is provided by armor. The Caiman also offers defense against more contemporary dangers like penetrators constructed of explosives. This MRAP's armor can be improved. The car is equipped with a system of automated fire extinguishers.
