Lesson_77_Burial_of_Jacob
Genesis 50 brings the epic, generational story of the Patriarchs to a close. After Jacob dies, Joseph's brothers
are seized by a terrifying thought: 'What if Joseph has just been waiting for Dad to die to finally take his
revenge?' They come to Joseph, throwing themselves down as slaves once again. Joseph actually weeps-his
heart is broken that after 17 years of providing for them, they STILL don't trust his forgiveness. He delivers
the greatest theological summary of the entire book: 'You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good
to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives' (Gen 50:20). Today, we wrap up the book of
Genesis by exploring the crippling nature of fear, the unbreakable reality of grace, and the breathtaking
tapestry of God's providence.
