Double Stops Progressive Exercises for the Violin
Double Stops Progressive Exercises for the Violin begin at the simplest possible level with perfect 5ths made by two adjacent open strings. They gradually progress in difficulty through to a major scale in each of 3rds, 6ths and octaves, laying the groundwork for more advanced double stop work such as Josephine Trott Melodious Double Stops, or for more advanced and formal study of double stops, as may be found in Simon Fischer Double Stops and Whistler Double Stops. These carefully designed exercises open the door for all violinists, whatever level they may currently be, to develop double stop playing without the frustration which can so often arise from learning the technique.
