Des, or Desert Ship, handles sand and sea equally well, which matters when your habitat keeps shifting between extremes. Once known as ships of the desert, camels need actual ships now. With fewer than 1,000 wild Bactrian camels remaining in the world, they're the eighth most endangered large mammal on the planet. Water sources are disappearing faster than migrations can adapt. Mining operations contaminate what's left. Des runs supply operations across territories where oases once existed, ferrying water and evacuating what's left of the herds from zones that can no longer support them.
