A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THEIS PATTERN
What better way to relax in summer than watching the sun set over the sea and surf after a day at the beach; having a sundowner or two, a quiet stroll or even a late afternoon dip?!
For me, a dip in the sea is the perfect way to unwind, connect with nature and put things into perspective. It’s hard not to feel awe at the power of the ocean, with it’s ability to sculpt and reform the landscape, sometimes dramatically, through sheer force, like the demolition of the spit of dunes where I grew up, or the sudden disappearance of the prom where I live now, only for it to reappear days later. Or consider the slow weathering and erosion, polishing and sanding which shapes our island over time, tides and generations.
The sea remains, and reminds us we are but a small grain of sand in the foam, so we best enjoy the ride, and the view. As they say time and tide wait for no-one!
As crocheters we are used to taking time to create something beautiful slowly stitch by stitch, we appreciate the journey as much as the destination, the thoughts and meditations as the project takes shape and we see the fruits of our labours. So I hope you will enjoy crafting this calming landscape, my Sun ‘N’ Surf Mosaic Wall Hanging, and that you’ll find the rhythms of the intertwining patterns soothing to the soul... perhaps you might even crochet it by the sea to get the real authentic salty vibes!?

2 Colour Overlay Mosaic Technique:
This project is worked in the overlay mosaic crochet technique whereby the colours alternate each row, with BLOsc forming the background and FLOdc forming the ‘overlay’ stitches that cover over certain BLOsc sts to create a colourwork pattern. The result looks complex but it is made up of only a 3 simple stitches, sc, BLOsc and FLOdc, so it is easy to learn and fun to make!
