About the story and the author:
This story (fairy tale) was written by Marie-Catherine d’Aulnoy (known as Madame d’Aulnoy, 1650 - 1705) and published for the first time in France in 1698. I have adapted the original french text into a modern french style for ease of reading. I have tried the best I could to keep it’s poetic
render. I did the same from the original English translation by Andrew Lang (1844 - 1912) that I have adapted from my own French version in a more modern English translation.
I have also tried to keep the title of the book as close as possible to the original French title of Madame d’Aulnoy. The original title translated by Andrew Lang was "The Story of Pretty Goldilocks". The book is part of The Fairy Tales of Madame d'Aulnoy series.
