A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS PATTERN

This pattern was designed as part of the collaborative crochet along

‘The Great Summer Mosaic CAL’ , an overlay mosaic blanket CAL hosted by Erin Toews of Juniper & Oakes.

It's just full of so many gorgeous fun designs, and I am absolutely thrilled to be part of this amazing collaboration! After I had submitted my design Erin (the host - from Juniper& Oakes) messaged me and asked if I would mind if she swapped the position of my section rom somewhere mid way, to the end of the CAL, because she felt the image of the sun setting over the sea would be a great finish to the look of the blanket, and would nicely top 'n' tail with the first section - the bright sunrise!

Of course I thought it was a wonderful idea -absolutely perfect!

I mean what better way to relax in summer than watching the sun set over the sea and surf after a day at the beach; having a sundowner or two, a quiet stroll or even a late afternoon dip?!

For me this is the perfect way to unwind and connect with nature and put things into perspective, which I hope you will feel too, as you crochet my "Sun 'n' Surf" summertime mosaic blanket strip. Maybe you could even crochet it by the sea?

This pattern is the chart only but includes 2 charts, one regular , one with inverted colours so you can mix & match or choose which version you like best.

The pattern also includes some basic pattern notes - less detailed than my premium patterns because this is intended as part of a blanket.

PATTERN NOTES

This pattern is a 27 row overlay mosaic chart, with 48 stitch repeat (plus 3st = 1 buffer stitch and 1 start and end of row stitch) So for example, if you want to make a 3 motif repeat, your starting chain stitch count will be 49 x 3 = 147 plus 2 = 149 plus 1st turning chain = ch 150

2 Colour Overlay Mosaic Technique

This technique is one of the simplest mosaic crochet techniques, whereby the colours alternate each row, joining and fastening off at the end of each row, forming side 'fringes'. The edge stitches are worked in both loops. The pattern is worked in sc and BLO for all stitches except the 'overlay' stitches which are worked in the FLO into the stitch 2 rows below, thus covering over the stripe of the alternative coloured row in those sections.

YARN REQUIREMENTS FOR ONE REPEAT - approx 50m main colour / 40m contrast colour if using Aran/Worsted Weight

HOOK SIZE - 5MM

GUAGE - 18st X 18.5r = 4 inches / 10 cm approx using Aran/Worsted weight Yarn

SIZE (of 1 repeat) 11 inches / 27.5cm approx using using Aran/Worsted weight Yarn
