We are delighted that it is now thirty months since the magazine was founded and we are reaching more people than ever. Our aim has always been to provide as wide a range of articles as possible and I hope that we achieve this.

I am especially pleased to feature two standout community projects: the restoration of Dewsbury’s late 19th-century arcade and the Name on a Knife project from the Hawley Collection at Kelham Island Museum. Also inside: the fallout from the dissolution of the monasteries including the Pilgrimage of Grace and the Rising of the North, the heyday of Yorkshire’s seawater baths, a dramatic night in Parliament courtesy of Wakefield MP Walter Harrison, an Elizabethan woman, years ahead of her time and her fight for women in the Catholic Church, and the enduring magic of The Railway Children and the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

As always, the magazine is available on a pay what you can basis — with no minimum amount. While contributions help sustain the magazine, I firmly believe that personal circumstances should never be a barrier to exploring history and heritage. This way, everyone can enjoy the stories of Yorkshire’s past.
