Parent Prep Worksheet for School Behavior Meetings and IEP Meetings, High School
A lot of parents walk into a behavior meeting feeling like they are about to be told their kid is a problem. They forget half their questions and leave without knowing who is doing what. This worksheet gives them something to hold onto.
What's included:
• Before the meeting: what you are seeing at home and what you want the school to know
• Questions to ask
• What I want to come out of this meeting
• A notes page for during the meeting
• After: who is doing what, and by when
How I'd use it:
Teachers, send this home a few days before the meeting. Parents, fill in the first page on your own and bring it. Asking "who is doing what, and when do we check back?" at the end of a meeting is one of the most useful things a family can do. Editable Word file included.
The questions are written for parents who are not educators. They include things like what the school is seeing, what has been tried, what is working, who is the main contact, and how the family will hear about progress. Schools can hand this out with the meeting invite. It tells families you want them as partners, and it usually makes the meeting shorter and calmer.
Who it's for: Families and teachers who want to send it home. Grades K 12.
What you download: one printable PDF, 4 pages, US Letter, plus an editable Word file so you can type in it.
