What I Look for When I Hire Engineers
Rewrite your LinkedIn and resume the way a hiring manager reads them. An 18-page guide for hardware and manufacturing engineers.
You've done real engineering work. You apply, and you hear nothing back. Or you get a no with no reason.
Most of the time the problem isn't your experience. It's how your experience is written.
When I hire engineers, I don't start with your headline, your degree or the company logos. I go straight to your Experience section and ask one question: has this person actually done the kind of work I need done? If your entries read like a job description, "responsible for," "supported," "oversaw," I can't tell what you did. So I move on to the next profile.
Nobody is doubting your work. They just can't see it on the page.
This guide is how I read a profile, written down, and a step-by-step way to rewrite every role so a hiring manager stops on it. I used it on my own profile. The before and after from my Tesla roles are inside.
WHAT YOU GET
- How I read your profile: the four things I check, in order, and what I barely look at.
- Owned vs. participated: how to claim your piece of a big project without overclaiming, plus the verbs that tell a manager "this was mine."
- The entry formula: the system, what you owned, what changed, and the number. Every entry ties to quality, reliability, throughput, cost or performance.
- What you can share: which numbers are safe to post and which never are, so you can show results without breaking an NDA.
- Your resume, same entries: cut each one to a single line. No second rewrite.
- Every entry is an interview question: a two-minute story card for each one, so you're ready when they ask.
- 4 templates: role rewrite worksheet, owner verb list, share check, story card.
WHO IT'S FOR
Hardware and manufacturing engineers in EV, battery, robotics, automation, medical devices or advanced manufacturing who are applying, or about to, and want their experience to read as clearly as the work they did.
WHO IT'S NOT FOR
Anyone looking for a headline formula, a posting schedule or a personal brand plan. This guide covers the Experience section, the part I actually read.
Every application you send with your current entries gets read the way they're written now. One evening with this guide changes that.
