Career guides for hardware engineers, written by the person who hires them.

You can lose the job in four rooms: the recruiter's search, your Experience section, the panel and the promotion meeting. I've been on both sides of all four.

Most engineering career advice is written for software engineers. Mine comes from the production line and the hiring table. Start with the free interview questions.

Hi, I'm Leora

I started as a mechanic at Pep Boys. Today I'm an Engineering Manager in Battery R&D at Lucid.

In between, I spent seven years at Tesla Fremont, from battery module equipment engineering to Engineering and Maintenance Manager, and built its technical training program, PLCs and robotics included. Then I led manufacturing engineering at Monarch Tractor.

I've sat on hiring panels and in the meetings where promotions get decided. Everything here is what I tell the engineers I mentor, written down so you can use it this week.
