A Heritage of Divinity (epub)

Brenda Lynn Jones, born 20 April 2033, is eleven years old and very annoyed at having to go to school on her birthday. She is a fifth-grader at Morningside High School in Atlanta, Georgia, which is one of a handful of elementary schools that aren't infested with "drug gangs." Brenda is growing up, as girls her age generally do, but along with the physical changes that most girls experience, Brenda begins to acquire abilities that are almost supernatural. Her IQ goes from average to somewhere above 180. She finds that she's able to "compress time" in order to move much faster than other people can. Being so smart, Brenda quickly masters all of the subjects in her class and grows bored because she isn't learning anything new. Fortunately, her graduation from elementary school is only a month away. She wants to attend Brookstone School, an elite boarding school in Columbus, Georgia. But it's over 100 miles away from her home and its tuition and fees are very expensive.

A Heritage of Divinity is a concept novella intended for a teenage/YA audience. If it proves to be popular, I'll extend it into a series. This introduction to that possible future series is intentionally offered as freeware, permission granted worldwide for unlimited reproduction and redistribution, provided that authorship credit remains with "David Sims."
