Vågspel socks - digital knitting pattern
Pattern description
The socks are knitted in the round top down and the heel is shaped with German short rows. The fit is snug at the foot with a little bit of slouch at the ankle. The special rib pattern gives the socks a modern, textured look. The bottom, heel and toe is knitted in stockinette stitch.
“Vågspel” is a Swedish word meaning “play of waves.” Inspired by the shifting rhythm of the sea, the rib pattern and the soft sheen of merino wool create a gentle, flowing texture — like ripples catching the light on moving water.
Yarn: Malabrigo sock (100 g/402 m) or any fingering-weight sock yarn. I recommend merino, as it gives the rib texture both shine and structure. You’ll need approximately 100 g for either size.
Needles: 2.5 mm circular needle (or DPNs if preferred)
Gauge: approximately 32 sts/49 rows = 10 cm (4") blocked in special rib pattern
