This tunic is ideal for frolicking like a faun in the fallen leaves in or curling up by the fireside. It has been designed to be feminine without being overpoweringly girly.
Lots of positive ease and generous length allow for growth and layering underneath.
Knit flat in pieces and then sewn together. It features a modified drop shoulder, and a fun little shell detail for the buttoned shoulder (you don’t need to be able to crochet, but you will need a hook for this).
This is a very easy knit. Pattern contains both charts and written instructions and lots of additional links to tutorials and notes.

It is intended that finished chest sizes be around 15cm/6in larger than actual chest. Finished sizes are as follows
Age 2-3 70cm/27½in
Age 4-5 74cm/29in
Age 6-7 77cm/30½in

Yarn choices
I used Stylecraft Alpaca DK, a quality acrylic yarn with a blend of alpaca for softness, warmth and beauty, combined with ease of washing. If you wish to substitute yarn, any wool, acrylic or blend of the two should be fine as should other blends with a small percentage of alpaca or other lightweight natural fibres. The slight halo from the alpaca creates a very coherent fabric; if you use a yarn without this you’ll get beautiful stitch definition and a slightly more open effect to the pattern. Both work equally well, and this is a matter of personal preference.
Skills required
This is an easy knit suitable for anyone with a few small projects under their belt. Lots of extra notes and links to tutorials are included to assist you. Skills involved are:
• cast on and bind off
• knit and purl
• increase and decrease
• sewing up seams
