Ta-Nehisi Coate's powerful memoir from 2015 has the power to transform readers and groups who meet to discuss it. It warrants re-reading and the prose is as beautiful as it is affecting. Coates is an athiest but his witness and sharing of his experience as a Black man in America creates opportunities for deep reflection for Christians, including a revisiting of many stories in and passages of the Bible.
