Conscious Eating; Mindful Meals, is a kind of ‘eating meditation’ that brings the enjoyment back to food. By eating mindfully you can savour every mouthful, learning how to enjoy your food more and even lose weight if you need to.
BEFORE LISTENING TO THE RECORDING:
You will need to find a place that is comfortable and where you will not be disturbed.
Please have in front of you a plate of cold food and make sure it is your usual sized portion. You will need cutlery, and you may have a glass or bottle of water standing by, so you can have a drink at any point should you need it.
Take a few deep breaths and when you are feeling calm and relaxed, switch on the recording and follow the instructions.
AFTER LISTENING TO THE RECORDING
It’s not unusual for food to be left on the plate when you have eaten a meal mindfully. In fact, you may find that you are inclined to eat smaller portions but feel the need to eat more frequently, and this is perfectly normal. Many of us have got into the habit of eating more than we actually need and, when we are guided by our bodies and only eat when we feel hungry the amount of food we consume is adjusted to a more efficient level.
Of course, it’s not always practical to eat every meal in this way but it’s a good habit to get into when you can. Listening to the recording at these times will help you to resist any temptation to eat more quickly than is necessary.
