The magnificence of the Oregon coast and the small port town of Harbor inspired me to create a collection of accessories worked in a simple knit and purl herringbone texture. The natural bias formed by the easy two-row pattern stitch, and the silky softness of Cascade Yarns Forest Hills are perfect for this pashmina style wrap.

Skill Level: Easy
Required Skills: knit stitch, purl stitch, increase, decrease, crochet cast on
One Size
Finished Measurements: 18" width; 72" length
Gauge: 24 sts and 40 rows = 4"/10cm in pattern stitch. Gauge is not critical in this pattern, but a different gauge will affect yardage and size of finished piece. Take time to check gauge.

Materials:
  • Yarn: Lace weight yarn; 700 yards. Sample shown in Cascade Yarns Forest Hills (51% Silk, 49% Merino Wool; 785yds/100g): 1 ball in Chili Pepper #04
  • Needles: US 4/3.5mm straight needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Crochet hook: size E/3.5mm
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
Notes: A crochet cast on is used for this project so that both ends of the wrap are identical. To see the crochet cast on in action, a free video from the talented folks at New Stitch a Day is available here.
