The Handover Reset Toolkit
Most handovers happen too late, too fast, and with too little structure. The person leaving is overwhelmed by what they realise they have not documented. The person arriving does not know what questions to ask. The organisation creates neither the time nor the space for either to happen properly.
The Handover Reset Toolkit gives both sides of the handover a structure to work through before, during, and after the transition.
It covers the knowledge capture session for surfacing everything the outgoing person holds that nobody else knows, a critical task inventory for prioritising what must be documented, a relationship handover map for ensuring key contacts are properly introduced rather than left to go cold, and the outgoing brief: a short, honest account of the role written by the person who has done it for the person who is about to.
Part 5 gives the incoming person a structured first thirty days with four week-by-week cards, orientation, relationships, delivery, and consolidation, each with a reflection log. Part 6 covers how to keep knowledge current so the next handover is not starting from the same position.
Nineteen pages. Worked examples throughout from two fictional organisations: a small charity whose operations lead was moving on after three years, and a trade SME whose production manager was about to take extended medical leave.
Built for SMEs, charities, CICs and social impact organisations. Useful for planned departures, extended absences, internal role changes, and retrospective knowledge capture when someone has already left.
