Map of Possible Selves
Mapping My Possible Selves — Free Reflection Worksheet
Who do you hope to become? Who do you expect to become? And who are you afraid you might become?
Mapping My Possible Selves is a free psychology-based reflection worksheet designed to help you explore the different versions of yourself you imagine in the future.
In psychology, possible selves are the people we imagine we might become—our hoped-for selves, expected selves, and feared selves. These future images can influence motivation, choices, and the direction we take in our lives.
This visual mapping exercise invites you to identify:
- Your hoped-for self — Who would you like to become?
- Your expected self — Who do you think you're likely to become?
- Your feared self — Who are you afraid you might become?
After creating your map, you'll be invited to look for patterns. Which possible self feels most alive right now? Are there identities that appear in more than one category? What might your answers tell you about what you're moving toward—or trying to avoid?
