Your Feet’s Too Big

Here are two transcriptions of one of Fats' beloved signature tunes performed in the studio with His Rhythm (1939) and as a soloist on the "Armed Forced Radio Command Performance" broadcast with a live audience (1943) in the last month of his life!

There is nothing groundbreaking here as far as his piano playing goes, but even when Fats plays "simply" there is much to learn and to enjoy. My "edit" was to fill the space while Fats comments, "More like baby elephant patter!".

This audio introduces a new "hybrid" format, merging my digital transcription with the actual source recording. As these videos will feature Fats in performances where his piano playing may not necessarily be the focus of attention - as accompaniment for either himself or others - I felt that the experience would be enhanced by including the original audio recording as well.

Thanks to the wonders of technology, I am able to synchronise my digital audio with the original recordings. It's a technique I am still perfecting as for example, there are slight tuning discrepancies that couldn't be completely resolved but hopefully that won't detract too much.

By all means, listen to the original recordings to hear the unadulterated performance but for the sake of an instructional audio, I hope you enjoy this new format of transcription delivery.
